Resolving Conflict with Precision, Toughness and Honour

Resolving Conflict with Precision Toughness and Honour

Resolving Conflict with Precision Toughness and Honour is something that is required everywhere in life.

As human beings we are all different:

Our beliefs, culture, socio-economic status, background, age and personalities are all different.

Although differences can lead to so many conflict situations between each other, the alternative is also true. Our differences is what makes our businesses, households and teams work better.

Differences between us offers the advantage for more opinions, ideas and therefore greater creativity and innovation. We should therefore not allow conflicts to take control, since we do not understand each other. This concept is important in any business, place of employment or even the military.

It does not benefit anyone should we have conflict because we disagree with one another, instead we should rather agree to disagree on topics we feel strongly about. We should find a compromise between each other, this is something we learn to apply at Milites Dei Academy, so we can also apply it in the real world.

Even persons of the same culture and beliefs can sometimes have immensely different world views. Therefore fighting within romantic relationships or marriages are inevitable. Just like in romantic relationships, in business, at the academy and in life in general there will always be things to disagree about.

Students at Milites Dei Academy are being taught to respect one another and therefore the differences between one another.

At Milites Dei Academy, we teach our students to resolve conflict with precision, toughness and honour. Thus the motto we have for our students: “precision, toughness and honour”.

Talking to each other about conflicts we have (and even with our superiors) is so important. Finding a solution between each other sometimes require an independent third party to oversee (for example the campus director), this we call arbitration between parties to find common agreement.

Sticking to a decided plan of action is what we refer to as precision / not deviating.

It is very hard to keep doing something in a way that none of the parties who are in a conflict agree to. As adults we unfortunately sometimes have to do things we do not want to, so we can grow as a person, by not always just getting our own will. Compromises sometimes require us to set our own needs aside and follow a common purpose, this therefore refers to toughness.

Doing things in a way that will benefit the most amount of people will be the right / ethical thing to decide. It is therefore very honourable to do things in this way, finding a compromise that will benefit the most people and sticking to it. Even if this compromise does not suit our own will. We have to do what is right, this is honourable.
