Where to get the money for your studies?

It is expensive to study but as explained before, to pay for studies is to invest in your future. In other words, if you pay, let us say R100 000 for a year, get good qualifications and get a job the next year with a salary of R10 000 per month, you pay back the R100 000 in one year in a job. Most significantly, you will keep on earning money every year thereafter. That is the true benefit of paying for education.

Ok, all fine and well to theorise about this, the reality is that a R100 000 is not growing on a tree for you to pick and pay for that education you desire and that you know will earn you a lot of money in the future. So, what can you do?

Possible Options

  1. RBH Homes states that ‘…the good news is, you can take advantage of the value of your property, also called equity, to cater for the enormous, but necessary, expense of your child’s higher education’ (also see http://rbahomes.co.za/plan-education/universities-in-south-africa). So borrow money on your house bond.
  2. Make a student loan at your bank. For FNB you can call 0861 40 40 40 and they will advice you what to do. Eduloan for Mpumalanga can be contacted at 015 295 4238. Visit the website of your bank and see the detail about student loans.
  3. Ask someone you know for a loan and repay them once you have a job. Remember Milites Dei will help you to get a job after you completed your studies.
  4. Ask someone you know to sponsor you.
