Ambush Exercises as Part of Military Style Teaching and Learning

Ambush Exercises

At Milites Dei Academy students learn (as part of the military style teaching and learning) through ambush exercises how to engage with criminals whether it will be to function in an anti-poaching unit or for farm security or when working in high criminal invested areas. Farmers and farming communities, for instance are at the mercy of criminals. However, security companies can make a difference and so can farmers and the communities in their areas as well.

According to Ryan Evans, ambush is one of the many techniques learned at Milites Dei Academy and it is based on the following basics: “Ambushes are classified by category – hasty or deliberate…A platoon or squad conducts a hasty ambush when it makes visual contact with an enemy force and has time to establish an ambush without being detected. The actions for a hasty ambush must be well rehearsed so that soldiers know what to do on the leader’s signal. They must also know what action to take if detected before they are ready to initiate the ambush”  (Field Manual 7-8 – Infantry Rifle Platoon and Squad).” Read more on https://warontherocks.com/2013/07/new-section-hasty-ambush/

Not Going to University?

Not Going to University?

Not Going to University?

It is expensive to study and universities do not have enough space for all the students in South Africa. It also takes a long time to finish one’s studies when studying at a university or college. In addition, “The truth of the matter is we have a million students, so we are spending money on students who do not finish, and we keep accepting new students into the system, instead of having them come out, and that is where the dilemma is,” Lehohla said (also read http://www.enca.com/south-africa/higher-education-stats-released).

At Milites Dei Academy, we pledge the following to you:

Rural Surveillance

Rural Surveillance

Students that study at Milites Dei Academy will, during rural surveillance, conceal themselves into an area surrounding a specific object of observation. This object could be the home of a subject, such as a farm, estate, public entry point or piece of land. The students remain hidden until they have gained relevant video or photographic evidence of the object.

The image below shows the students observing a public entry point into a conservancy area.

At Milites Dei Academy those without a matric still have the chance of earning a high income. The only requirement to enter the accredited courses at Milites Dei Academy is that you need to be 17 years of age and/or older.

What is Success?

What is Success?

Stephen R Covey and Dan Dzombak explain that that to live a balanced life, one needs to keep the following areas healthy (available at http://www.dandzombak.com/what-is-success/):

Physical Health: You need to be physically healthy to have the energy to engage in life. If you don’t have a baseline of health you can’t function and can’t be successful.

Mental Fitness: You need to be continuously engaging your mind. Learning and growing, experiencing new ideas, getting better, pursuing mastery, and putting your ideas to work to accomplish your goals.

Emotional Health: You need to be self-aware emotionally, feel good about yourself, and have a positive self-image. If you are depressed to the point where you can’t function you can’t be successful.

Social Health: You need positive relationships in your life and people that love and support you. You have friends and loved ones that you trust, that make you a better person, and inspire you to be better. There are people you can call at any time of the night if you have a big problem. Humans are social, if you don’t have people you care about and that care about you can’t be successful.

Spiritual Health: You make a positive impact in others’ lives, giving meaning and purpose to your work and daily life. This keeps you focused and inspires you to overcome the day to day struggles and setbacks that are a part of everyone’s life.

Dan Dzombak continues by adding: Material Wealth: There is a basic level of food, shelter, and clothing that all people need and that is paid for through money. If you are too poor or have too much stress from struggling financially you can’t be successful. In the short term, you can find happiness from all sorts of different things: work, partying, small-wins, YouTube, TV, money, Facebook-likes, alcohol, shopping, movies, etc. In the long term, if you do not have the above 6 essentials you will not feel happy or successful. Only you can know if you are truly successful or not, and that is only the case if you are on the path to happiness over the long term (see more at: http://www.dandzombak.com/what-is-success/#sthash.aVv36RE3.dpuf).

Maybe one or more of the following offered by Milites Dei Academy will give you success. What will be your choice?Forensics Vessels at Sea PADI Diving Equestrian Dog Handling FGASA?

Security Industry in South Africa

Job Opportunities and Salaries

Security Industry in South Africa
The South African Embassy in the Netherlands writes “The South African security industry has been in existence for many decades and is one of the most sophisticated in the world. The South African security industry increased by an annual 30% in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, and the current growth rate is estimated to be at 15%. Whilst the security market itself comprises of many segments, the South African industry today can justifiably be said to consist of 4 key technology segments: •Access control. •CCTV surveillance. •Intrusion detection and alarms. •Fire protection.
Other important and competitive sectors include asset tagging (primarily in the retails sector), physical and perimeter security, vehicle security and IT security. According to latest statistics, the overall security industry in South Africa -commercial, industry and domestic- is estimated to be worth an annual turnover of US$6-billion. The country has some 300000 registered security officers and 4500 registered businesses. In this regard, the percentage of security income turnover to gross domestic product is said to be one of the highest in the world. Originally mainly an importer of security products, South Africa is now a vibrant exporter of security services and products; i.e.: riot gear, electrified fencing, razor wire fencing, traffic barriers, electronic access control systems, remotes, outdoor beams, radio transmission systems, security uniforms and footwear, alarm control software, safes, bullet resistant doors and screening, fire resistant safes and cabinets, vaults and doors, access control booths, access control panels, security seals, and two way radio equipment. The industry has also recently seen the emergence of inventors who have produced a wide range of access control systems that continue to rejuvenate the industry. Given the above backdrop, it is clear that the security industry in South Africa is poised for growth due to opportunities presented by the local market, which have translated into competitiveness at an international level” (available at http://www.southafrica.nl/security-industry).

Team-Building

Team-Building

Contact us if you need to send staff on a team-building event. BNI Phoenix White River recently joined Milites Dei for such an event. It was not only fun but productive as well. The success of a successful team-building event is that each exercise must actually contribute to staff connecting during the event which they then in return will take into the work-place afterwards. This leads to more productiveness once back at work.
